A Letter from God to His Beloved Child

My beloved child,

I know everything about you. I know all of your habits and little idiosyncrasies (Psalm 139:3). I wanted you to resemble me, (Genesis 1:27) so, I formed you with my very hands – your body, face, mind, emotions and personality. When you were still in your mother’s womb I knew exactly who you would be (Psalm 139:13). I was there when you were born, and you were beautiful (Psalm 22:10, Song of Solomon 4:7). Before your parents even chose a name for you, I had already called you mine (Isaiah 43:1). And now, every day I am right there with you, walking ahead of you and protecting you. You are never out of my sight. I even know what you will say before you say it (Psalm 139:3–10).

The truth is that you have stolen my heart (Song of Solomon 4:9), and therefore I have created so much to make you happy – relationships, food, mountains, oceans, sunsets, animals, birds, trees, and flowers (Genesis 1:28–29). I think you are absolutely lovely and are becoming lovelier each day you grow closer to me (Song of Solomon 2:14).

When you asked for my forgiveness through Christ, I forgave you once and for all, and I will never hold anything against you (Psalm 32:1,2). Even now, there is nothing you could ever do to make me stop loving you (Ephesians 2:4,5). You are whiter than snow in my eyes (Psalm 51:7). Even your most shameful mistakes do not scare me or make me want to pull away from you (Romans 8:1). In fact, it’s the opposite. Every time you turn away from me, I am waiting for you with open arms (Luke 15:22–24). Don’t believe Satan’s lies – I am not angry with you. My heart is a fountain overflowing with grace and compassion that never runs dry. And, my mercies are new every morning (Lamentations 3:22–23).

This world is a difficult place, and I don’t want you to walk through it without me. There are few things that are stable in life, but I will never change. I am the same yesterday, today, and forever (Hebrews 13:8). The world will lie to you, but I want you to know that I will always tell you the truth (Romans 3:4) because I am the Truth (John 14:6). Your family, friends, and lovers may forget you, but I will never forget you. How could I? I have engraved you on the palms of my hands (Isaiah 49:15–16). When you feel like things can’t get any worse, I will be there (Psalm 30:3). When you’re weak, I’ll be strong (2 Corinthians 12:10). I will carry you in my arms if I have to, so that you can be as close to me as possible (Isaiah 40:11). You can count on me to fight for you (Psalm 18:35, 146:6–9). When you are in pain, I will comfort you and turn your sadness into joy (Jeremiah 31:13). And don’t lose hope, because a day is coming when there will be no more crying or pain (Revelation 21:4).

When you are exhausted, I’ll give you physical rest and rest for your soul (Psalm 127:2, Matthew 11:29). When you are feeling overwhelmed, I will be with you (Isaiah 43:2). I will never leave you (Matthew 28:20), and I will be faithful to you until the end (1 Corinthians 1:9).

I have so many dreams for your life. I want to satisfy you when you realize that this world is not enough (Jeremiah 31:25). I want to liberate you from all your fears (Psalm 34:4). I want to heal all your deepest wounds (Matthew 9:22). I want to make you stronger than you realize you can be (Psalm 29:11) and give you a supernatural peace that the world will not understand (Philippians 4:7). I want you to have abundant life every day through the same Spirit who raised Jesus from the dead who now lives inside of you (Romans 8:11, John 10:10). I want you to learn and develop the gifts I have given you and use them for my glory (1 Corinthians 1:7).

Finally, if you trust me, I promise you these things:
The more you get to know me, the more you will understand yourself (Ephesians 1:11,12). If you make our relationship your treasure, then I will give you the desires of your heart (Psalm 37:4). With me you have nothing to fear (Isaiah 41:13). Every time you trust in me, you will not regret it (Romans 10:11). Your future is in my hands, and it is going to be amazing. Your dreams cannot contain the dreams I have for you. One thing I will say is that it is going to be an adventure. (Jeremiah 29:11, Romans 8).

My love for you knows no limits,
God, your Father
